When I was researching rural community car clubs in 2006, there were only 3 in the UK and as one was in Machynlleth which is only 20 miles away from Llanidloes I popped over the mountain to visit them. The main thing learnt was that it is the members who make a rural car club work, this was a relief as I had been struggling to work out how it would work in my town of Llanidloes.
After 25 years, the original Mach Car Club has now folded and in so doing passed the baton to us at TripTo to build on their successful car sharing scheme in Machynlleth. They have helped us to fund a second electric car for Machynlleth a Citroen e-Berlingo, which is pictured above.
